Parish Council meeting minutes, July 2018

Minutes of the Meeting of the Parish Council held on Thursday, 12th July 2018 at 8 p.m. in Ruckinge Village Hall.


Cllr. S. Denis in the Chair, Cllrs. D. Guy, Mrs. F. Burt, Mrs. T. Cliffe-Harrison and the Clerk, Mrs. M. Shaw.


Cllr. A. Beaney and P. Sillibourne.


There were none.


The minutes of the previous meeting had been circulated and were agreed as correct, after the location of the blocked culvert by Hill Croft was added.

Matters Arising

Sewage problems, Bromley Green Road - nothing further. It is understood that there are still problems, Cllr. Miss J. Martin explained that the “Pods” are working but there are serious problems with the 30+ laterals, some have been done by Southern Water but because there are funding problem these should have been done by residents. She has arranged another meeting with Southern Water.


The prospective candidate was not in attendance.



Treasurers Account as at 30th June 2018 £ 15,774 – 25.

Cheque was drawn:

Ashford Local Plan

Nothing further


18/00960/AS Lords Farm, Marsh Road, Ruckinge. Change of use, and conversion of existing agricultural building to holiday let unit. The application was supported.

Fairview Industrial Estate

Nothing further

Carters Field

Fencing – nothing further.

The Chain and Padlock, missing from the gate – Cllr S. Denis has obtained a replacement.
Picnic Table plaques – these have been received and will be positioned shortly.

Dog Training – nothing further on the agreement.

“Super market” funding – nothing further..

Bromley Green Hall

The replacement of the windows and doors have been completed and new chairs purchased.

Southern Water have now paid the compensation money to the Hall.

Highways & Byways

Letter from PROW regarding AE 539, AE538 and AE579 and the Royal Military Canal Path, these problems will be addressed.

Cllr. D. Guy to inspect the AE550 gate onto the A2070 road.

Village Hall

In view of the high balance in the bank, it was suggested that the Parish Council could support projects to enhance the Hall for the benefit of the village. Mr. J. Bridge to be invited by the Chairman to the next meeting with possible suggestions.

Wi-fi and Defibrillator – see above item.

Items of interest

The Rev, Rod Whatley would like support for the commemoration of the end of WW1. Support was given with the proposal of a wreath laying ceremony by the Chairman at the War Memorial.

This was agreed for Thursday, 13th September 2018 at 8 p.m. in Bromley Green Hall.

There being no further business the Chairman declared the meeting closed at 9.05 p.m.
